2018 was incredibly fulfilling! I did everything I said I was going to do. I completed a few things and started on a few of my other goals.
When I sit back and reflect on what has transpired in this past year, I feel exhilarated! SOOOO many opportunities came my way and I was severely blessed because I held open my arms and received all that was offered. I can tell you that I am highly favored because I never would have done any of this on my own. My “Thank You” list is sky high. I should also mention that this is not magic tricks or miracles but the product of setting goals, working smart and a lot of perseverance. An old proverb says that “A vision without action is merely just a dream.”
In this post, I want to share with you my tried and tested 5 tips that when used everyday religiously, you will achieve whatever you desire. “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.” – The Alchemist
What Do You Really Want?
Some people want to be rich! Some people want to be famous! I want neither of those things. Of course, like most, I like money and notoriety. But really my true desire is to have enough money to live my best life, a career that will allow me to travel and good health so that I can enjoy my most wonderful days with the people I cherish the most. That is all that I desire. What you want may be different from my goals and aspirations but whatever it is you desire, you have to pin point it and envision yourself doing exactly what you want to do.
I remember growing up my parents would always say I was daydreaming and “Get your head out of the clouds, Focus! We hear a lot of that today. Focus! Everything I ever dreamed about has now come to fruition. And yes, there is still more I want to achieve…
I believe that when you have a clear vision of what you want to do and you see yourself in that situation or position, or house, or career, You will start to make moves to get closer to those goals. Example; I have been working on finishing my degree for the past 5 years. A class here, a class there. When I had my daughter 2 years ago, it really put things into perspective for me and I decided I would start taking more classes so that I could finish and go on to the next leg of education which was going to law school. SO, taking 3 classes a semester with a full time job and a full time career, I was able to finish my Bachelor degree in December. This for me was the greatest achievement. I have wanted to be a lawyer since I was a child and now I’m on my way to do what I have always wanted. Another example is that I’m an artist and I love to create visually pleasing images. I had always wanted to have a studio but time was not permitting so I set my sight on obtaining a place where I could be creatively focused after I graduated and turing that into a small business. So, there it is I found a space that was perfect for me to start this journey and the owner of the building was gracious enough to bless me with a good deal so that I could work on my craft! All because I asked for it. Never underestimate the power of the spoken word.
Everything that I do in life, my career, financial investments, even recreational things and hobbies all exist for one purpose and that is to accommodate these 3 things. Living my best life, with family and friends and being healthy to enjoy the things I have worked for. So remember know exactly what you want and cultivate a vision of where you want to be.
Create a Vision Board
Ask for what you want! You receive not because you ask not. There’s really power in a spoken word. No, I’m not talking about magic, I’m talking about the law of attraction! Yes! The old saying that goes something like, what you put out is what you get in return. So, open your mouth and tell the universe what you want. Then go about your day and work towards that goal. If you live and breathe your desires, they will show themselves to you and become attainable. I put together a piece of old cardboard from a discarded box and I cut out a bunch of pictures from magazines and pasted them on the board. I keep this board in my bedroom and I look at it every day. I have also taken a picture of the board to keep in my phone so when I am away I can still glance at it from time to time. The idea is that seeing yourself with these things or in a place you want to be, will help you realize the path you must take to achieve your goals. “To realize ones destiny is a persons only real obligation.” – Paulo Coelho
Put Your Vision into Action
Move! Move! Move! Stop talking about what your gonna do and make it happen! You have the vision, now you must act upon it. It’s no good to have an idea in your mind and constantly you think of how you will start or what your brand will look like and how much money you will make…but you have not even taken the first step. Start with the ending in mind and walk yourself back so you can create a path to attaining what you want.
Create a Morning Routine
This very easily could be number 1, but you should start the habit of waking up early and having a routine. When you wake up early, you get so much more accomplished. You have so much more energy! By 9 am when everyone else is just getting started, I’m half way through my day. This allows me the extra time to work on projects or spend time with my lovely daughter. Everything else falls into place when you make a schedule and keep to it. I’ve been studying mastery and I want to share with you my tools. It’s helped me tremendously with understanding who I am meant to be and realizing my life purpose. Please download this podcast and listen to it daily. It’s Robin Sharma Mastery Class. This has made a profound difference in my life as a whole. In my career, in my marriage and in the way I manage at work. Being a leader is hard work even when you are naturally gifted or a born leader, there is still so much more to learn and know. Thats my new years gift to you
Exercise Relentless Discipline
Lastly, you must have discipline! I say this because a lot of people fall short because they have no self control or they can not will themselves to really get to the next step. You must understand that we are al human but you can be superhuman! Know your distractions and stay away from them. For me, I was always picking up my phone to check emails or social media. I took six months off from social and created new habits for myself. If you are always answering your phone during the day and being distracted. Turn off the phone during your most productive hours. Leave the non important things for after hours. Set clear goals and exercise them. Everyday day!!! Make being a performer a habit! You can change your behaviors, you just have to stick to the script.
I hope you enjoyed this post and Happy New Year!
